Every year we see people trying out new health and wellness trends in an effort to improve their lives, but there are always a few that make the headlines and change the way we look at health. If you're interested in trends capable of improving your health and wellness and are looking for new modalities to access your heart, here’s my list for top health trends 2016.

Travel Will Take On A New Meaning

We used to travel across the world to feast on foreign food and drink enough alcohol for a lifetime, but there has been a massive shift towards health and wellness retreats. They're popping up on tropical islands all over the world, and they range from basic wellness centers to 5-star resorts. They offer everything wellness-related such as yoga, meditation, detoxing, and a whole host of other things. 

Sensory Deprivation Tanks

Although s have been around for a while, they've always been very niche with a small collection of fans. Now the general public are beginning to get in on the action, and regular sessions are going to become the norm like we seen with tanning salons all those years ago. At least lying inside an isolation tank and floating on the water is actually good for your health, and along with helping your body relax they're known to work wonders for your mental health too. 

Whole Body Cryotherapy

Lying in a tank of water is relaxing, but another one of those similar health and wellness trends is stepping inside a cryotherapy chamber where you have to stand in temperatures of around -250 F for up to 3 minutes. All the blood is sucked into the core of the body, and when you step out it rushes outwards towards the extremities of your body. As well as managing pain and lowering inflammation, it's also good at fighting depression and helping athletes with their sports performance.

 The Continual Rise Of Standing Desks

Standing desks are close to our heart because of the people with crippling back problems we see on a daily basis, so it's nice to see standing desks are going to keep trending in 2016. Our bodies weren't supposed to sit hunched over a computer desk all day, so standing up more often should see a massive swing in the health of those who choose not to sit down. There are lots of fancy desks being released, and they're becoming cheaper too. Another cool trend slightly less popular is sitting on a gym ball to strengthen the core.
