Enjoy Life Foods, the leader in the “free-from” food category, has again been named one of the fastest growing private companies in America
Singled out as one of the fastest-growing food and beverage companies in the Chicago area, Enjoy Life Foods has experienced 131 percent growth during a three year period, with 2013 annual revenues at $33 million. The company currently employs more than 200 people in its Schiller Park, Illinois headquarters and has added more than 75 jobs throughout the previous three years.
In its annual Health and Wellness survey, Supermarket News recently stated that gluten- and allergen-free items remain the strongest health and wellness trend, with 40 percent of retailers and wholesalers identifying the category as the top trend of 2013. Gluten-free also topped the magazine’s 2012 poll at 31.9 percent. Enjoy Life Foods’ pioneering leadership in this category throughout the past 12 years continues to result in exponential growth.

In addition to being gluten-free and free from the top eight allergens, Enjoy Life Foods’ products are all non-GMO verified--another trend reported in the Supermarket News survey. The new poll reports that non-GMO items, identified as the third fastest-growing trend at 9 percent in 2012, is now the second most identified, with 19.2 percent of all respondents identifying it as the top wellness trend of the year.
Free-From Fast Becoming a Growth Trend
As popularity for foods that address a range of food allergies beyond gluten (a wheat protein) make its way to the mainstream supermarket aisles, the free-from trend is emerging. In fact, 42 percent of Enjoy Life consumers indicated they purchase Enjoy Life Foods’ products because they (the consumer) are living a gluten-free lifestyle and they have at least one other "top eight" food allergy. Additionally, more than 26 percent of the consumers who purchase Enjoy Life Foods’ products are people that are not gluten-free, but do have at least one food allergy.
